Our traditional chai cups are made from unglazed, lightly fired terracotta (earthen clay). These terracotta pots are traditionally called a Kullad. Hand made in Rajasthan, India, according to a tradition that goes back to the ancient city of Mohenjo Daro, and at least 4000 years.
As well as tea bowls, these beautifully rustic earthenware pots can serve a variety of purposes – they make beautiful offering bowls, and when filled with sand they are perfect for holding incense sticks or tea light candles. They can also be used as small decorative pots for plants, especially cactuses.
We sell these as a set of ten, priced at $3 each.
Note that these chai cups are all hand made and feature rough spots. These flaws are part of their natural beauty.
