Original antique Hmong or Miao five ring tribal torc, very high grade silver, weighing a total of 686 grams of solid silver. Northern Thailand, late 19th or early 20th century.
Most of these old solid torcs were melted down for their silver content, while others utilised hollow construction, weighing very little. This solid five ring torc, forming part of a wealthy Hmong women’s dowry, carries cultural significance and is of museum quality.
Measurements: width of rings at widest point 18 cm, each ring is over 1 cm in diameter, opening at back 6 cm
