Antique bazuband bracelet, made up of fine interlocking components all threaded onto heavy cord, with toggle closure. Early 20th century or earlier, high grade silver, collected by Bernard Heaphy during the 1980’s. Originally worn by women above the elbow, bazuband bracelets were typically strung on red cord with a simple tie or sliding knot (this one has been recently replaced as the cord was rotten). This is an excellent example of very fine workmanship as bazubands tend to generally be lager and cruder, and it forms a very collectible yet wearable piece of jewellery. Weight approx 94 grams
Measurements: Inside circumference 21 cm. Height 4 cm, length of silver panel 17 cm
