Authentic vintage Rabari textile featuring mirror-work, hand embroidery, applique and silver metal thread zari work.
This is a vintage tribal textile dating to the mid 20th Century, from the Sind Desert region of Rajasthan. Bought by my father on one of his buying trips in the 1990’s.
The Rabari are a semi-nomadic camel and cattle herding people from Rajasthan and Gujarat. Rabari women are famed for their sewing and embroidery skills.
The textile is in excellent condition apart from some nibbles to the side of the textile. Cotton with cotton, silver alloy thread and silk embroidery. Backed with a traditional red cotton cloth.
If you’re looking for a simple collectable textile, this is a good place to start and a fine example of Sindi workmanship.
