Buddhist prayer flags, a staple Buddhist accessory. We have three varieties:
1. The mantra Om mani padme hum and the prayer to the Compassionate Buddha Avelokitsvara, is written on each flag along with images of various Buddhas, and every time they fly in the breeze, all the prayers are offered to heaven on your behalf, and on behalf of all mankind, promoting peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom.
2. White Tara. Printed with the mantra Om tāre tuttāre ture mama āyuḥ-puṇya-jñāna-puṣṭiṃ kuru svāhā. The mantra brings good fortune, health and long life to those who recite it. White Tara represents all the qualities of the Compassionate Buddha, including compassion, wisdom, and strength. Chanting this mantra allows you to receive her blessings.
3. Green Tara. Printed with her mantra Om Tare Tu Tare Ture So Ha. Her mantra is one of the most commonly recited in Tibetan Buddhism and is used as a veil of protection to assist in facing physical or emotional challenges.
Note that these are the extra long strings of flags (many are less than half this length). Hand block printed cotton, from Nepal.
Measurements: a total length of 6.5 metres, 25 flags, each flag measures 20 x 24 cm
